Highlights of the Year 24/25

It's been a fun packed year of Scouting for the 44th White Tree Group. Here are some of the highlights for our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers.

Beavers

We have been busy earning lots of badges while enjoying some of our favourite activities, Fish and chip shop walks, constructing a giant marble run, den building, camp fires and junk modelling. We also discovered pond dipping at Old Sneed Nature Reserve.

Along with Beavers from across the Cabot district we took part on a 5k walk to raise money for Children in Need and enjoyed another Cabot District Beaver Activity Day at Woodhouse Park.

We've stepped up our involvement in the local community through litter picking and hosting a Saturday coffee morning for our neighbours.

Cubs

Cubs have been orienteering, pioneering, backwoods cooking, fishing, camping and getting in some archery target practice. We did very well at the Cabot cubs swimming gala and learn about UK Parliament through Parliament week activities. The fire brigade welcomed us back for another visit, where the highlight was, of course, testing out the hoses.

Scouts

We continued to combine our two loves, food and fire, making a delicious lentil Dhal amongst other things and took things up a level, boning and cooking fresh fish. A couple of sessions focused on safety as we learned about fire safety at the fire station and first aid at Southmead hospital. Other highlights were group camp, Lego challenge, visiting The Balmoral, archery, swimming, air rifle shooting, tomahawks, electronics, tennis, paddleboarding and laser tag. We rounded the year off with a trip to the inflatable assault course at West Country Water Park.

Explorers

We have been doing our bit for the environment with some tree planting. Highlights included water-based fun, sailing and a visit to the water park. We completed the Cotswold marathon and enjoyed more walking on our weekend away in the Brecon Beacons.

If this all sounds like fun and you fancy getting involved, we're looking for new Team Members to help organise and run activities and share their skills. Please get in touch and let us know how you would like to help. There is more information on our Volunteer page.
